Match the pipe to the pressure
When running PEX tubing for the plumbing supply lines, remodeler Ben Bogie increases the size of the tube for showers and other high-volume water outlets.
Because the inside diameter of the 90-degree elbows gets pretty small, it can restrict the shower pressure. And that may cause customers to call you things you don’t want to be called.
For regular showers, he uses ¾ in. tubing, stepping down to ½ inch tubing at the mixing valve.
For multi-head showers, he might step up to a one-inch tube.
