Samurai Carpenter is taking the day off today and going for a field trip to meet a guy named Dave Friesen, who makes Japanese Style Tanto knives at the Crossed Heart Forge on Vancouver Island.

During the visit, Dave fires up the forge, bangs out some shapes, and walks Jesse through the process of building a knife in the Japanese tradition. This is a good way to while away 14 minutes.

Father's day is coming up, so you know where to send your kids when they ask: http://islandblacksmith.ca/available-work/
